Challenge:
As international tensions rise and global leadership faces complex moral and strategic decisions, preparing the next generation of decision-makers requires more than academic theory. Universities are under pressure to expose students to the realities of conflict, security, and policy-making in ways that are both grounded and practical. UCL, one of the world’s most respected academic institutions, identified the need to bring real-world insight into the classroom — particularly on the topic of UK involvement in global conflict.
Solution:
Who Dares Group was invited to co-lead a seminar and panel discussion with postgraduate students from UCL, focusing on global security, conflict, and the role of UK leadership on the international stage. The session brought together diverse student voices from across Europe, Asia, and North America in an open forum where lived experience met academic analysis.
Delivered by Leo Walker & Kamran Akrami, the session combined operational insight with academic grounding. Topics included decision-making under pressure, ethical considerations in military action, and how to balance intelligence, strategy, and humanitarian responsibility in high-stakes environments.
Through real examples and open discussion, the seminar encouraged critical thinking and challenged conventional perspectives. UCL’s commitment to shaping capable, informed future leaders was evident — and the engagement from students confirmed that the next generation is not only ready to listen, but to lead.
